Chris leads educational organisations to their preferred future by accelerating innovation through the implementation of game-changing technologies to improve educational outcomes for all students.

 

He is concerned with generating and disseminating new knowledge to transform education and improve the learning outcomes for all children, young people and adults. He specialises in participatory leadership, literacies, technologies and initial/continuing teacher education in emerging and developed economies across early childhood (birth -8 years), school education (5-18 years) and higher education (15 years and over). 

 

Chris assists teachers in becoming change-agents prepared to transform education systems and improve the quality of teaching in every classroom.
 
High-quality teaching and effective school leadership are critical in-school drivers to improve student outcomes. More importantly, they are the same drivers that ensure children and young people can work for their preferred futures.

Bringing together the expertise and intellectual resources of more than 20 disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, The Cairns Institute is a robust and vibrant hub of research, capacity building and public debate in the tropics, for the tropics.

Key Duties & Accomplishments performing performing the role as the Social and Environmental Justice Leader:

​

  • provide expert leadership on the innovative use of current/emerging technologies to achieve greater social and environmental justice;

  • manage a portfolio of more than 10 funded cross-disciplinary research projects totalling more than $2 million;

  • provide leadership and guidance required to achieve Institute outcomes that meet compliance requirements;

  • represent the Institute in a range of internal, jurisdictional, national and international forums;

  • developing and executing project plans for implementation, including costings and budgets; and

  • developing, maintaining and negotiating relationships with stakeholders to develop strategies for implementing policy.
